Donor Acknowledgements
Separate and distinct from official tax receipts, gifts from individuals and organizations are acknowledged by Cal Poly’s University Development & Alumni Engagement Division. This application allows authorized users to download donor data from Advance and merge with customized college, division, unit, and department acknowledgement letters.
Overview
Gifts from Individuals, Corporations and Foundations
- All gifts between $1,000 and $24,999 receive an acknowledgement letter from the Assistant Vice President of University Development & Alumni Engagement.
- All gifts between $25,000 and $99,999 are acknowledged by the Vice President of University Development & Alumni Engagement.
- All gifts of $100,000 or more are acknowledged by the President.
- Corporation and Foundation acknowledgments are sent only if there is a listed contact.
Gift-In-Kinds
- All Gifts-In-Kind between $1,000 and $24,999 from both individuals and organizations are acknowledged by the Assistant Vice President of University Development & Alumni Engagement.
- All Gifts-In-Kind between $25,000 and $99,999 from both individuals and organizations are acknowledged by the Vice President of University Development & Alumni Engagement.
- All Gifts-In-Kind of $100,000 or more from both individuals and organizations are acknowledged by the President.
- Never include the estimated value of any gift-in-kind in an acknowledgment letter to any donor.
In addition to University Development & Alumni Engagement and Presidential acknowledgements, Development Directors, Deans, and Department Heads are strongly encouraged to write acknowledgement letters to thank donors.

Please note that you will not receive security access until you have completed a training session and signed our Security and Confidentiality Policy agreement.
